GUINTO Sadly, Zosimo Guinto, after a courageous battle with cancer, passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on February 16, 2000 at the age of 51 years. He was predeceased by his mother, Felicidad Guinto. He will be sadly missed and cherished by wife Leonila; sons, Ron (Regine), Raymond (Jackie) and Andrew; grandchildren, Riley, Jordan, and Raizel. He will be fondly remembered by his father Mariano; brothers, Hermie (Sally), Rick (Olive), Medic (Shirley), Noel (Vilma) sisters, Zeny (Ento), Bernie (Pablo), Melda (Efren), Clodeth (Joseph), Daisy (Choy), and Marifel (Rommel). His memory will be cherished by the Caturay family, sisters-in-law Beth (Davis) and Myrna (Nestor), and many more brothers and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and countless friends here in Canada and in the Philippines. Zosimo was born on August 11, 1948 in Cavite, Philippines. He immigrated to Canada in 1973. Zosimo was a very active, energetic and cheerful man. He was kind, generous and always was concerned for other people. He was someone you could depend on anytime of day - just say the time and place and he will be there for you. He could also be described as a "Jack of all trades" always ready and willing to do and fix anything. Zosimo worked at Monarch Industries as a machine shop operator for 20 years. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, fixing cars, going to horse racing to name a few. He was very fond of kids and particularly enjoyed babysitting his grandchildren. His fondest wish was to build a fountain and playground in his backyard for his grandchildren to play had he only gotten better. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Health Sciences Centre who cared for him until his death. Special thanks to all who visited him in the hospital, to numerous friends and relatives who offered their continuous prayers and support through-out this difficult time. Viewing "Lamay" will be held on Friday, February 18, from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., Saturday, February 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 21, at St. Edwards Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ric Aguirre, Arturo San Miguel, Efren Ordonez, Ruben Abrenica, Efren Ramirez, Danny Estoy, Adrianno Magnaye and Ramon Carranza.
